Bengaluru: Karnataka collected Rs 10,317 crore through GST. After the Congress government came to power in the state, there is an increase in the GST collection. Karnataka is consistently ranked second in GST collection after Maharashtra.

Karnataka’s revenue is significantly higher than Gujarat’s Rs 9,800 crore and Tamil Nadu’s Rs 8,953 crore during the same period.

Karnataka’s revenue for the month of May 2023 grew by a modest 12 percent compared to Rs 9,232 crore in the same period last year. GST collections are better due to higher compliance and e-invoicing. E-invoicing will soon be mandatory for small-scale businesses.

The Commercial Tax Commissioner gave information about this and said that currently e-invoicing requires a business annual turnover threshold of more than Rs 10 crore. It will be reduced to 5 crore with effect from August this year.

E-invoicing will be mandatory from August 1. The department organizes webinars and other programs to make available various facilities and tools for invoicing generation. This will improve GST collection, sources said.
